With a current population of 190,000, Townsville is able to offer visiting Tasar sailors a tropical relaxed atmosphere with all the city comforts. Container transport cost worries? No worries! Your container transport costs will be minimized because the Townsville Sailing Clubhouse is only 3 kms from the container wharf which is also serviced by Queensland Rail.
Those persons who are easily distracted will have trouble focusing on their racing; you see, the race course is in picturesque Cleveland Bay which lies between Townsville City, Magnetic Island and Cape Pallarenda, and they're all great backdrops. Townsville to Magnetic Island is 8 kms.
The Townsville Sailing Club is located at the Breakwater Marina end of Townsville's Strand Beach and is close to most amenities. How close? We're 500 metres from the Casino and a BI Lo Supermarket, 100 metres from the Breakwater Marina, 2 km from the Port and Townsville Yacht Club and Maritime Museum.
If it's beachfront camping or caravanning you're after then the Rowes Bay caravan Park is the place for you, but book in early because our Southern visitors love it there at this time of the year. There's a 5km bike beachside pathway from that caravan park right to our Clubhouse. However the closest caravan park to the TSC would probably be the town and Country Caravan Park at the Showground (4kms).
The cheapest highrise apartment accommodation offered on the Strand would probably be the Aquarius which is approx 1km away from the TSC. However if you decide you want the best of all worlds then checkout The Mariners North Holiday Apartments. You're only 50 metres from the TSC! Not only do you overlook the race course but you'll be able to see as far up as the Palm and Hinchinbrook Islands.
The Townsville Sailing Club is a small but friendly club with a long history supporting sailing activities at Townsville and welcomes your patronage.
Visit the Townsville Sailing Club on facebook, or go to Tasar Queensland and see a panoramic view of the TSC beach and rigging area.
See You there
