02 to 09 January 2021 - Paynesville Victoria -
UPDATE - CANCELLATION OF 47TH AUSTRALIAN TASAR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021
In light of the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria, the TAV Committee in consultation with the ATC has made the difficult decision to cancel the 47th Australian National Tasar Championships 2021 which were due to be held in Paynesville on 2-9 January 2021.
While the outlook in Victoria is continuing to improve, consideration has been given to the restrictions which may still be in place, in particular restrictions on interstate travel and mass gatherings. With this in mind, the Committee felt that a true and fair National Championships, in the interests of all its competitors, could not be held. Further, the potential health adverse impacts of holding a National event on participants and the local community was considered to be too high risk.
Alternative options to cancellation, including postponement, were considered, however given the ongoing uncertainty over restrictions, it was decided that it was in the best interests of its participants to aim to provide certainty on this event. We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of participants in planning travel and accommodation over the holiday period.
We would like to extend our thanks to Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club for their offer to host the event and their understanding of the decision that has been made. We look forward to being able to host future events at this great venue.
The silver lining is that we are hopeful that racing within Victoria will be able to begin in the early part of 2021, and we will be publishing our calendar of Tasar supported events in the near future, so watch this space!
