2013 WTC Presidents Report

2013 World Tasar Council Meeting

President's Report

August 12, 2013

First of all I would like to say thank you to the organizers of the 2013 Tasar Worlds. Chuck Asper as the organizer and all the folks that helped him have done a great job putting on a great regatta.

Also, I would like to extend our gratitude to Graham Hanna for his many years of service to the Tasar Class. Graham's recent service as Chief Measurer has been exemplary and his diligence has helped guide the class in a positive direction on many issues.

The Tasar Class has a difficult road ahead to find ways to increase our numbers and keep current members motivated to continue actively sailing the Tasar. A key decision regarding the potential implementation of a carbon mast and new sail plan could make the above task more difficult in some Tasar Associations. I am hopeful that Julian Bethwaite as the copyright holder of the Tasar will follow on with his good reputation as seen in the 4ger class of letting the class guide changes to the equipment and construction of the boat. I put my faith the in the upcoming slate of the World Tasar Council to continue to weigh the benefits and consequences of these formative decisions ahead.
